A William and Mary side chair, the old (but not original) show cover has been removed and the chair is prepared for recovering. Original holes are studied to understand former placement of nails. The museum that owns the chair wanted it to be upholstered in leather that was reflective of the original material used. A companion chair was located at the Albany Institute of History and Art. This example chair served as a guide to determine the leather needed to re-upholster the chair.
