We specialize in the conservation of OBJECTS from decorative and ethnographic collections. The conservation of objects is a vast and interesting specialty area, as object materials are so diverse.
Objects conserved at Spicer Art Conservation are made of:
- leather (including all skin based artifacts such as leather and vellum),
- bone,
- wood,
- feathers,
- grass and other plant fibers,
- quill,
- hair,
- or any organic material
- Complex or multi-component objects, including those with metal components.
Objects can be composed of several materials or media. As a textile, object, and paper conservator, Gwen Spicer is an expert in the conservation and treatment of these complex artifacts. Objects that no one else will treat, or those that seem far too complex based on their material content or their current condition, will receive the highest quality treatment at Spicer Art Conservation.
